The 2024 Israel–Lebanon conflict erupted on October 8, 2024, when Israel launched a full-scale invasion of southern Lebanon, following months of escalating tensions with Hezbollah. The war resulted in heavy civilian casualties and widespread displacement. According to the Lebanese government, Israeli military operations killed approximately 2,720 people, the majority of whom were civilians, and forced over 1.4 million residents to flee their homes. A ceasefire agreement was brokered on November 26, 2024, and took effect the following day. However, violence did not cease entirely. As of April 2025, the United Nations reported that at least 71 more Lebanese civilians, including women and children, had been killed in Israeli airstrikes since the truce began, while around 92,000 people remained displaced.
